Day 38 – The past four days.
Well I haven’t blogged in a few days. Let me catch you up to speed. I fucked up something and KDE was all weirded out on me. So I reinstalled Ubuntu with Gnome. I got everything back up to par more or less. I compiled Super Maryo Chronicles from scratch for the new version. OMG it’s an addictive game, but I have problems getting past the second world. So weird getting back to 2D scrollers, LOL.
I decided to try out an online MMO called Vendetta Online. It’s a space type of MMO and it’s pretty decent. I’m just starting out so I am getting used to the controls and everything but it’s all in all a pretty smooth game.
Day 33 – Docking?! Who Docks?!
I like docks. I know it’s kind of a Mac thing, but I prefer a dock over icons all over the desktop. To me icons on the desktop are almost like drawing a mustache on the Mona Lisa. It ruins the artwork of the desktop.
So I installed Cairo Dock. Cairo-Dock is an animated application launch bar for the desktop, comparable to the dock in Mac OS X or Rocket Dock (for Windows). I trimmed out the task tray (still want to use my panel at the moment. But I added a few of the things I use frequently and of course Second Life was added as well. I just wanted to get things off my desktop as far as the icons. Want to add this to your machine? Read on!
Day 21 – The day the mixer Died.
So far I have learned that working with little quirks under Linux you need patience.
Finally I finished sorting out all my music files and got them back on the external HD! So I started to get things together to record my podcast. Hooked up my mixer, turned it on and plugged it into the USB port. The system found it OK. I checked it with Skype.
Beautiful. Launched Audacity and chose the input for the mixer and started recording. The waveform was flat..
Hmmmm..
