Day 25 – Rip It More

Another day of nothing much. I ripped a couple DVD’s and one of them seemed to not quite be right but I think it’s the track I chose to rip. There was like 90 tracks in the table of contents and a bunch of them seemed it could be the right one. *sigh*

However the other one was correct and things went fine. More movie backups made. Go me.

I updated to a new version of Firefox that the name escapes me as I write this, but it’s a ubuntu based fork of 3.5 that seems to work fine. I also imported all my old bookmarks that I exported when I was under windows.

Also I found the Ubuntu Vidcast site. But the thing doesn’t play on my iPod because it’s in Ogg Vorbis. Dernit! And the video link for the ipod is a iTunes link. GAH!

A Little Break From The Experiment.

Ubuntu ColaAs you all know I am running a personal experiment under the Linux Distro known as Ubuntu.  The name means an ethic or humanist philosophy focusing on people’s allegiances and relations with each other. Which is the philosophy the makers of the Operating System have based it on.

“Ubuntu is the essence of being human. I am human because I belong, and my humanity is bound to yours.” – Archbishop Desmond Tutu

However, the name apparently has appeared not only for the software. I introduce you to Ubuntu Cola!

The company is a fair trade company that donates 15% of their proceeds to African sugar farmers. There aren’t any distributors locacal to me so if I were to purchase this, I would have to resort to online sales. Check out their website.

They have a section called Where to Buy where they use Google’s maps to display where you can get it. As far as the U.S. it appears that people in Milwaukee and San Francisco can get it locally.

I wonder if they use the Open Cola recipe for this?

Day 19 – While I sort out the music…

lWash your Windows AwaySo basically today was spent with tweaking Conky a little here and there. But mostly it was another day of sorting. And the final day might I add. Yes I got to the end of my collection!!!

Again I am happy that I am able to organize a lot better than under Windows. I feel like it’s Laundry day!

Yes that is Linux Detergent you are seeing in the picture to the right. Micro&Soft is the maker? I have seen this picture floating around the interwebs for quite some time now. I still think it’s funny.

Ok let’s get into the final day of sorting and also there are some links to some more resources I wanted to share with you all. So please, read on…
